Crick In Me Neck

I must have slept in some funky position last night, because now I have a crick in my neck. When I turn my head too quickly, or too far, it aches. Also, my truck is making a funny noise, sort of a loud tick when I'm accelerating. Maybe time to get that check engine light looked at.

I got my prince Charlie coat rental for Randall's wedding on Saturday. It fits fine, except that the sleeves are about 3 inches too long. I have to wear a long because I am long-waisted, but my arms are apparently normal length.

I am going to buy my own coat, but I didn't have enough time to get it after the wedding got moved up.

Looking forward to Piping school in June. It's the Balmoral School of Piping, the session in Crestview Hills, Kentucky. My pal Jason and I are driving up for the week-long school. He's a great piper, and I am not so much, but I will benefit much from a week of immersion. I applied for a partial scholarship from the St. Andrews Society to help finance the trip, it would be cool if that got approved.

The more documentaries I watch on custom motorcycle builders on Discovery Channel, the more I want to walk away from computers as a career and build choppers for a living. Hey, it might not be a practical dream, but it makes me feel better, at least.

Check out West Coast Choppers (owned by Jesse James; the direct descendent of *the* Jesse James), Choppers, Inc. (Pyschobilly), and Orange County Choppers (Paul Teutel Sr. and Paul Teutel Jr.) for examples of the sickest bikes on the planet. I would kill to be able to have people screaming around on bikes that I made from nothing more than a pile of raw material.

I really want to get my business off the ground, but sometimes I think I'd like to move out of the technical arena. I've talked about my craving for a creative outlet before, I think it's going to get worse as I get older. On the other hand, I am finding that it's becoming easier to concentrate on one thing for a longer period of time, something I've always struggled with.

Time for a mint strip.

Couldn't you at least wait till you lose some hair? Or until you reach the point that the conversation of a 19 year-old skirt is so *pleasant you want to bag her as a second trophy wife (*or the sex makes up for lack of meaningful dialog). Or maybe to the point that you no longer think of a Miata as a "chick car" and that you'd look good in one. Or until jumping out of an airplane w/ a parachute seems like something you just have to do.

Whatever happened to getting bitter rather than having dreams? Is that no longer en vogue? Wake up Mr. Willie van Winkle and smell the coffee my wife scorched or maybe it's the eggs she ALWAYS cooks over the HIGHEST heat possible. Either way, it's a huge shit sandwich going on around here and we all gotta take a bite. Bon appetit!

Sometimes I want to get away from computers too, and do something that seems like "real" work where you have results that are more tangible than things like websites. I like my job a lot, though, so no plans to change.

My attention span is gone. I envy you if yours is expanding.
